Stryder
I am basing this on being able to use all current hardware and software that is available for Windows on OS X if they ported OS X to a PC platform.
Guest LilBambi
I'd think about it ... weigh expense with compatibility, etc. ;)I think we need another answer in the poll before I can answer that question
imranj
Well i wouldn't as the time , money, man hours in understanding a OS, its in and outs , error decoding. And for me Windows i like my home, i started with Win 3.0 286 machine, and moved all the way to WinXp and Win2k3 server.......with Redhat too in the mix...... .Using windows is like a part of me as a person, while OSX does have a super candy based interfacebut until they introduce a two button mouse, as we are not aliens with three fingers, and a standard windows based keyboard............but any ways the question is will i change over no, i dont think so.......... zox
I wouldn't think about it a second. That would be just perfect for my case as I already have to spend most of my time working in MacOS so that would be just an extension and I get rid of Microshaft for good :)
Guest LilBambi
OK, I've thought about it now ....The answer is no, I wouldn't switch ... I would buy a 4-port KVM Switch :)Still can't vote though -- Since I use Windows and Linux
Guest ThunderRiver
Mac is nice, and I am certainly in love with Office X aqua lookBut I am sided with PC because I am an engineer, and all my peers use PC, and why give them headache when it comes to file format convert?ThunderRIver
SonicDragon
I'd certainly think about switching. I haven't really used macs very much, and if i have i used OS9, which i absolutely can't stand. But, OSX is certainly giving me a reason to like the mac. As imranj said, it would take time to learn the ins and outs, and i think i would rather do that with *nix first. Also, imranj, OSX does have support for a 2 button mouse... maybe i read your post wrong... sry in advance
Guest ThunderRiver
Yes it supports two button mouses. Most Mac pro/geek that I know of uses Microsoft IntelliOptical Mouse ..how interesting
Big Jeff
I know nothing about Macs. 2 buttons as opposed to 1? 3 or more? They can't put enough buttons on mice for me, and I have 3 plus the WebWheel®.
Guest ThunderRiver
Well, Mac Pro mouse only has one button, and the only way to activate the right click would be press the Control Key (I think) and then click. It is also another thing about Mac Pride, they want to make their OS look like you can do everything with just "one click away" instead of many many click with PC mouse. They will never get over with it even if Steve Jobs quits ..hehe
havnblast
I would switch to Linux before Mac, nothing against Mac but I would go the Linux way so I voted stay with windows so Linux wasn't an option
teacher
Gee. it is hard to make up my mind. MAC is the only computer I have ever taken a hammer to fix. My sis had a student throw one across the room. I took a hammer to get the cover back on the case because the frame was now bent, plugged it back in and it worked great. That was two years ago and they have not called me back in for any more free repairs. From a user standpoint, it doesn't make much difference to me which system I use. I can adapt. I hate all the external devices on MACs unless that has changed. They are great for adaptive devices like gigantic mice and keyboards. I can't think of much software I use that does not come in both flavors. I sure don't know much about how to fix MACs other than the hammer and their restore CDs and loose connections but that has seemed to take care of most all I have needed to work on.
