Myeh... it's no different that current laws regarding analog assets. Now surviving relatives will have access to all the illegal music and movie downloads, along with the three years of emails between the deceased and that 11 year old girl in California. :o

securitybreach

Sounds good but that would only work for online services and only if the companies complied. I mean how would my theoretical children get access to my media collection if my system is encrypted? Would the state pay someone to attempt to crack it or what? I also do not understand their legal precedent for the law. Why would a family want access to someone's email account even though it was completely unrelated to his death (the marine killed in action). That could bring along more grief to the family. I could understand a Facebook or G+ account so they keep their memory alive by posting things or remembrance but not email. More stupidity by the government..

Maybe I should make a will with my passwords.... B)

Two people (my co-executers) know where all my accounts/passwords info is stored and how to decrypt it. These two also have specific instructions on what I want done after my death; who to contact with the news, instructions on taking care of my cats, paying off my debts, etc.

It's wise to have someone you can trust to tie up your lose ends after you're gone.
