In case you haven't seen it, both MSNBC and NYTimes are showing picstures of Iraqi people celebrating the fall of Saddam's regime. The pictures actually come in surprise to me because I hard hardly imagine a country celebrating US troops steppig into their soil. Nonetheless, it shows how sucky Saddam's government is. Even his own people are turning against him when he is down.

It will be interesting to see how the people take to the "fall" of Sodom (Oops! Did I spell that right?). Sounds like they are waiting to make sure he is out of the picture, then they can feel safe again... er, finally.d|:^)Dick

Actually, the French were very happy when American troops stepped onto their soil (twice). The Panamanians were quite demonstative when Americans stepped onto their soil. The Afghanis seem to be quite pleased with the early results of Americans stepping onto their soil. As I remember, the Phillipinos were, as well. Liberation is a very joyous thing. Unfortunately, we in the United States are so far removed from our own liberation that we consider July 4th a shopping day.On the radio tonight, I heard an Iraqi American speaking of all of those who have died in this endeavor; he said that they had sacrificed to give the Iraqi people the greatest gift of all...freedom. He also said that he hopes that the US will retain control over the transition, because they understand freedom.God bless them, us, and all (civilian or military) who have given so much.

Hear! Hear!I could not have said it better!and unfortunately many more don't realize that freedom is never *free* it always has a price associated with it... I personally find it amazing that the anti-war crowd never realizes that it was war and the sacrafice of many lives that paid for their right to demonstrate and voice their opposition without worrying of the threat of retribution. Notice that before the fall of the regime most every Iraqi person that was interviewed and spoke out against the regime hid their face from the camera, but now that they feel safe and no longer fear the regime they openly speak of the horrors and every one of the people who helped tear down the statue had no problem of showing their face... Also those here in america also started speaking out since they no longer have to fear that their families will be in danger.-Mike

Apart from what's been done for freedom in Iraq, a major contributor to terrorist efforts against the US and other countries has been removed. Perhaps other supporters of terrorism have been given reason to pause before killing again.showletter.gif
