Guest ThunderRiver
I remain neutral because Microsoft grants InterVideo to port the codec and player to major distro only (in binary format.. no source). So for people that use BSD or Slackware will not be benefited from it. Besides, I like to compile src myself. Binary build like RPM is just NOT for me. Guest LilBambi
I say just port the codecs ... Linux and BSD developers know what to do with codecs ... great example .... mplayer!

henderrob
I like the idea of WMP ported to Linux because it would give my family a familiar face when using Linux if MS forces us to switch. Right now, I am the only one on Linux (some of the time) where the other three family members have no intention of switching. I guess if they keep buying the MS upgrades for me for Christmas, they'll be able to use Windows.
