GolfProRM
As the Mozilla Firebird project has gotten much discussion on this board, and has become the favorite browser for many of us, I thought that some of you might like to see that Mozilla's other side project, Thunderbird (the new mail program), has been released in nightly build form!I've got it installed, and even at this point, it's better than PocoMail (IMO). I really liked PocoMail, but I think this (especially once they get it stable) will blow it away. It might even be a replacement for those of you using Eudora!I really like the separate account settings, how each account can have it's own inbox/sent/read/trash folders... You can even have each account check for mail at different time settings! This is great for me because I have one account that will only let me check every 15 minutes... I can keep my others set to check every 5 minutes and keep up better on my email! It does have some glitches yet, and they haven't implemented a Minimize to Tray function yet, but if you've been a Firebird nightly build person, you might want to give Thunderbird a try!http://texturizer.net/thunderbirdCheck it out if you're into the stuff these guys have been working on.****WARNING!!!! THIS IS A VERY EARLY ALPHA EDITION.... NOT RECOMMENDED FOR NOVICE USERS****You do have to be careful with it and deal with the issues if you're going to use this... It is in no way a stable version download... I've run into one issue with it that I had to work around, so if you're going to use it, be prepared for the occasional crash! quint
Thanks, Ryan; was thinking about it, but I'll at least wait until a nice beta rolls in. I see that this is the re-named "Minotaur" mail program...I think. Since I've been spending most of my PC time in Mandrake, guess I'll stick with Evolution - hard to beat it. Guest ThunderRiver
I tried before, and it crashed and crashed and crashed on Winodws 2003 Server. I will wait for "beta" heh
Prelude76
i tried it last week. it looks the same as what i use now; Mozilla 1.3 Mail. actually, been using Mozilla's Mail for all my email since version 1.0, and never once had a crash in the mail portion, and i think it beats Eudora and OE in how it handles multiple email accounts. And Outlook XP is weak. They automatically block all inline attachments, while Mozilla just give u option to block or allow inline attachments. If thunderbird becomes a full featured XUL-lean version of Mozilla Mail, OE and Eudora gonna have to play catch up. Stryder
Yeah, I am looking forward to seeing the end result of this project. Outlook and Eudora are more than I need and OE just makes me feel like there is something missing. Been looking for something to make me retire OE for a long time. Just has not happened yet. Hopefully this will be a step in the right direction.
