Webb
I'd like to copy a few files - bookmarks, cookies, passwords - but these files mess up Firefox's ability to save passwords. Specifically, I'd like Firefox to "Remember logins for sites" but copying any of these files causes the checkbox to become greyed out (as does selecting "Never remember history"). There doesn't seem to be any way to import this information. The only was seems to be to copy the files. Is there any workaround for this? I'm not going to copy every bookmark by hand. Maybe an entry in about:config?
zlim
All I've ever done is exported bookmarks from one browser to another. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/907341 Easier to just import them all then delete any you don't want.
Webb
Thanks. That eventually worked. "Restore" locked up the browser so I quit after 2 attempts. "Import from HTML" didn't do anything. Import from another browser" found the HTML file and imported it.
V.T. Eric Layton
Use Xmarks and you'll never have to worry about this again. https://www.xmarks.com/
crp
I didn't think that PM24 was compatible enough with FF44 for a profile copy to work even a little.
Webb
It isn't. The only thing I could salvage was the bookmarks and it didn't do a very good job of copying them. I lost all of my passwords, saved cookies, greasemonkey scripts and all extensions. "Upgrading" always breaks something and Mozilla is one of the worst to not care. But you have to do it every once in a while. PM24 is driving like a 1980 Pinto.
crp
oh. last time i had to do that i literally took screen shots of my logins and passwords and re-typed them in. Bookmarks wasn't that bad, saved them as html and did drag and drops to recreate them. next time, i'd probably use one of the password exporters and create csv files and re-enter from those. Guest LilBambi
Yes, PM is way different now, not just a branch that stayed the same. It has marched on as well.
