Redhat and Mandrake on same hard drive; Windows XP on seperate hard drive. While in DOS ran c:\>fdisk /MBR. Knowing I had two good Linux boot floppies (Redhat & Mandrake). Unfortunate that neither were made after Kernal upgrades to to both Redhat and Mandrake. Is there any help? :) )> :)} (:[o}

Mike,Boot from your floppy ( or CD but that will only give you limmited rights ) and do /sbin/lilo as root, this will write lilo in the MBR :) Bruno PS: I hope you wrote the new kernel in your lilo.conf :)

Thx; Bruno. And, yes I did write to lilo.conf I am a linux newbie, and know, just enough to get me in trouble. But I love build systems and adding OS's and deleting same, to try something else. Curently I have two factory computers and three homebuilt. I now need to learn how to install from tar and compile binaries. ;) Then I'll be B) Mike ThorntonP.S. Is there a tutorial on adding avatars around here. This place is growing by leaps and bounds.P.P.S. Thank you Scott. I love it!

Mike, did you get your problem sorted? Well, lets put it this way. This system will never have another Redhat distro on it!! Mandrake is much the better OS. When you install Mandrake; things just work, without all the hassel of RedHat. I've regained 25GBs of hard drive and have a nice running (and very stable), Mandrake 9.1 installed in under 45 minutes with 185MBs of updates in less than 30 minutes. My Hauppauge TV card working as a champ (as=like) and tomorrow I'll determine why Xine is not running my DVD as it should and I'll study your(Bruno) tutorial on multi-media keyboards.Thank you, Bruno, You are a great help. And, I am sure there are other members, I will learn more, from so don't feel left out. :D :D :D :lol:
