Mozilla Product plan: remove support for heavyweight themes

Yet one more reason why I'm glad I moved to PaleMoon. via Mozilla to remove Themes from Firefox

You like your Noia, FT DeepDark and similar themes for your browser? Sorry if you're using Firefox (and direct clones) -- once this lands, support for what Mozila calls "heavyweight themes" will be gone. You'll have the Mozilla way (maybe with custom toolbar backgrounds AKA personas AKA lightweight themes) or the highway to choose from.

And in case of the inevitable questions from people who still don't understand what Pale Moon is and is not: No, this will not in any way impact Pale Moon. We pride ourselves on having a nice and growing collection of complete themes.

Solutions born from paranoia are never the best solutions. -MC

I never use themes but it is a very nice thing. I don't use them because I don't know the developers and what they are putting into them.

Well if your installing them from addons.mozilla.org (what the addon menu opens up), then they have been thoroughly tested by mozilla. The same as installing apps on android, apple, etc.

Well Mozilla has been in decline for awhile.

In October, Firefox's user share rang in at 11.3%...The October mark was Firefox's lowest since August 2006

I suspect this latest move will alienate more users.

IMO, most of the decisions made by Mozilla lately have been more about some idea they have and not a thing to do with what people using browsers want and need.

Poor Mozilla. I loved that ol' dinosaur for a long, long time. I had to move away from the Firefox browser because I was just not satisfied with it resource handling, sluggishness, and bloat. No browser is perfect. My Chromium can make me pull my hair out occasionally, too. I like Chromium's simplicity and transparency (what it does in the background). That's what attracted me and that's what's still keeping me using that browser. It fits me right now at this stage of my computering journey. That may not always be so, though.

I wish the nothing but the best for Mother Mozilla and her wayward child Firefox. I hope they get their carp together.

I am very careful on Add-Ons too. ;)

Could well be sadly...

I also moved my main browser to Google Chrome, and most of my clients have as well.

I am very saddened about all of this with Mozilla Firefox. I used Firefox since it was Phoenix browser beta...Sigh...

On older OSes, I have moved on to Pale Moon and also install Pale Moon and use it on current OSes.
