lewmur
Is anyone else having problems streaming Hulu with Chrome in Linux? I had a problem about a week ago where the ads would stream but not the content. They fixed that. But today, when I try to stream a show that I've watched over 20 episodes, It say that my browser is incompatible and to use Firefox. If it come to having to choose between Hulu and Chrome, Hulu loses. :angry2:
securitybreach
That is odd as it works perfectly here Oh wait, I am getting that error now too And flash is crashing on FF while trying to watch Hulu. I wonder what they changed? I did find this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/note-hulu-playback-in-chrome-no-longer-working-4175550849/ Looks like Hulu went the router of Amazon prime video and forced DRM
securitybreach
I just cancelled my account and told them why. Whatever change they made in the last couple of days broke linux playback on all browsers and all distros. I would call and tell them the same. I don't like FF. For one thing, when I go to Full Screen mode on one monitor to watch a video, and then click on something on the second monitor, the first one exits Full Screen. I have enough irritations without having to put up with them to watch a video.
securitybreach
Just wait, it will not work for much longer.... This has been reported on FF and Chrome on dozens of distros.
securitybreach
BTW it doesn't work on Ubuntu either (going by all the threads I found). See: https://goo.gl/oSNJFI Reddit: Hulu cuts off Linux support? From above: Unfortunately we do not have an alternative work-around to allow the Chrome Browser on Linux Unbutu, other than using Firefox with HAL. While we do not wish to alienate our users who prefer Chrome, in some cases changes to the service may in effect also impact the platforms we support. I have tagged your account and this ticket, and will be forwarding your experience and comments to the appropriate development team to review. At this time, I regret we have no ETA if or when Chrome will be supported for our Linux customers. I dropped the $99 a year Amazon Prime video because of this and now Hulu lost a long time subscriber.
securitybreach
None of the browsers work in Linux(FF,google, midori, opera) -firefox plays the commercials fine then errors out. It seems we are stuck with this workaround for now. This is a serious breach of manners guys you just alienated a big paying community. We are not amused, this has nothing to do with us and everything to do with your DRM management. We should not have to do a work around we pay for the service and you are not delivering. http://community.lin...orial/view/2028 https://www.reddit.c...support/cu5kzk9
lewmur
Just installed the latest chrome-stable update but it didn't fix the problem.
Robert
I just checked and Hulu still works on my Ubuntu 14.04 install using Firefox. Amazon Prime did not work when I installed Ubuntu so I googled a fix. I don't remember what it was, but it was about using old repositories (or something like that). securitybreach
Just installed the latest chrome-stable update but it didn't fix the problem. The fix is hal which has been deprecated on Linux since 2009 and was replaced by udev. There is a package on Arch that will still work. The package is called hal-flash but once again, it is very old so I dunno if I would trust it.

Yes, hal is installed on your system if it is working for you.
