Is there anyone here who remembers Chaos Manor ?
i thought he was a really good conversationalist, probably liked his speaking better than his writing.
A long , full life. Too bad it could not continue.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. ~C. S. Lewis

"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress toward more pain." -George Orwell, 1984

I read a lot of Jerry Pournelle back in the day- when I still read a lot and
devoured a lot of Scifi. He spun a good yarn, that I'm sure of. I don't
remember specific works now, but they were many...

RIP Jerry...

I definitely remember reading The Mote in God's Eye, probably Lucifer's
Hammer as well...
