V.T. Eric Layton
I seem to be having an issue (originally discussed HERE) viewing embedded YouTube vids here at Scot's within Chromium and Chrome. I can turn off all my blocker extensions and the vids will not load. The place holder for the vids don't even display within the messages. This is only happening here at Scot's, I think. Embedded Youtube vids at my own board work fine. I can also view them with no issue on Youtube's site. I can get the vids to play here at Scot's using Firefox, though. Any ideas?
raymac46
It happens on the watch forum I frequent as well www.watchuseek.com. Both Linux and Windows versions of Chrome do not show embedded videos although Firefox works fine. I think it's related to the forum software. V.T. Eric Layton
Hmm... well, phooey. I guess I'll have to fire up FF to watch the vids folks post here, then.
Guest LilBambi
Well, that's why we have several browsers around. I am sure Google and the Open Source Chromium will fix it. It seems to only work with some videos; some it shows the youtube embedded fine and then complains about not having access to the video to try again later. Others work fine first time. I would imagine it's whatever format the backend video is maybe? Or it's ones that are non-flash; meaning using html5 player?
V.T. Eric Layton
I thought that might be the case, too. However, when I go Youtube and play the vids directly, it makes no difference if they're Flash, HTML5, hi or low def... they all play at Youtube fine. I can even grab one that doesn't play here and embed it at my own board where it plays fine. Strange.
raymac46
Yes the Chrome browser plays Youtube videos just fine on Youtube so the problem has to be in embedding them on the forum. That's why I think it's forum software specific. I don't know what Scot is using here but Watchuseek uses vBulletin.

Guest LilBambi
Besides, the yout.ube video links placed within posts was working fine till recently. This is not an IPB issue; it is Google Chrome's problem. Firefox still plays them fine.
V.T. Eric Layton
Yes, I agree with you there, Fran. The embedded vids were working fine here up until a couple weeks ago, I think.
V.T. Eric Layton
A test vid... http://youtu.be/Kdgt1ZHkvnM OK, IPB uses url tags to embed. My board (ProBoards) uses Hmm... I wonder what the diff is? Edited August 19, 2014 by V.T. Eric Layton
Guest LilBambi
Works great as long as I allow google video url through the script blocker. Yes, but for youtube, you just use the embed youtu.be link and it works right in the white space with a return above and below it. Started to watch but it's too long for us. V.T. Eric Layton
Still don't work for me.
Guest LilBambi
Very weird. Are you using any anti-scripting extensions/addons?
V.T. Eric Layton
This happens with all my extensions disabled.
V.T. Eric Layton
It may be some corruption within my .config/chromium/Default directory, but I'm not going to dump that and have to set Chromium up all over again, so I'll just live with this. It only happens here, like I said. I can always use FF to watch a vid here, if I need to.
Guest LilBambi
This happens with all my extensions disabled. Amazingly, I have found that even having ScriptSafe turned off wasn't enough for one site. But this one I have manually adding sites that are in the backend options for video locations. If you are using that one, I have my config for ScriptSafe if you want it. I save the options and whitelist I have and can restore it if I need to. V.T. Eric Layton
Umm... no. I'm running ScriptBlock --> https://code.google.com/p/scriptblock/
Guest LilBambi
Can you export your settings? Either way, it might be worth removing it temporarily to see if it makes it work.
V.T. Eric Layton
I may test Chromium with a clean profile just to see... Not tonight, though. It's time to go watch Perry Mason.
