Mozilla Firefox Version 59 Released with Security Update

I just updated mom's laptop to FF 59.0 and installed Flash 29.0. I discovered that Flash 28.0 remains in plug-ins along with 29.0, and if you change 28.0 to "Never Activate", 29.0 is also disabled. Also noticed that with FF 59.0, I can't delete any plug-ins, the option just doesn't exist any more. Searching Mozilla on "delete plug-in" just brings up other plug-ins that do everything in the world BUT delete plugins from FF. Can I just disable and not delete? I'm not really happy about having a superseded version of Flash on laptop, even though it's set to "Ask to Activate". Any one have any idea what's happening with FF?

What I might do (note I run FF ESR and don't have the problem).

1. Disable flash then uninstall it using Corrine's link for the uninstaller

http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe

I'm not sure if it requires a reboot but to be safe, reboot.

2. Update FF to 59.01

then check that it is updated and no flash plugin is showing.

3. Install flash for IE and FF again.

Although I've switched to Pale Moon, I do keep Firefox updated. Checking plugins, there was only the plugin for Flash 29.0. That could be because I have Flash Player Settings Manager set to "Allow Adobe to install updates".

Thank you, Liz. Everything worked fine--mom's laptop is on FF 59.0.1 and only Flash 29.0 shows under Add-Ons. I'd like to think I'd have thought of this myself if my brains weren't so scrambled right now!

Corrine, I don't let Adobe install updates because I have mother running on a limited user account without knowledge of the Admin password. She's almost 90, and it's safer that way.
