This is neat...just found it.

curl wttr.in/your_location

I substitute my zip code for 'your_location', and saved it as "wx".... chmod +x and will add an alias for it in my .zshrc file.

Maybe you've seen this....but maybe some haven't.

Nice.

I have actually been using that for a while now. The author of the script uploaded the package to Archlinux's AUR repo:

https://aur.archlinu.../packages/wttr/

And his github repo for wttr: https://github.com/A...ezaFiroozi/wttr

I have it set in my ~/.zshrc using the alias weather

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/wttr/

alias weather="wttr 70005"

Cool program :breakfast:

I found this article giving quite a lot of information on the creator,

Geeks have their own dating sites, clothing stores, and even bars—why not a weather service, too?

Well, now they do thanks to Igor Chubin, a Russian living in Germany, “hardcore UNIX/Linux developer and devoted opensource enthusiast,” and inveterate polymath fluent in “7 human languages and a dozen computer languages,” he writes via Twitter. Chubin has created an endearingly old-school weather report for “geeks, software developers, hackers, and tech people,” presenting the forecast in ASCII characters like yellow lines (sunny); gray, bulbous parentheses (cloudy); and drifting asterisks (snow).

I also found this article which shows wttr scrolling through several different locations from the same window. So if you have friends in different locations you can see what their weather is like at a glance. Do not know if it is a gif made up to show or if you can actually set the program up to do this. if you can then that would be super cool.

I tried to show results from a terminal but I can not get the weather to show properly as the output of to one side of the terminal. Strangely the MOON feature shows correctly.

Here are a few walkthroughs on how to make more use of the program. The last one has neat info for emacs users.

Weather shows up great in a browser for me though and my new town is in the lists so I do not need to draw the curtains to see what the weather is like :whistling:

That is simply a gif for the article.

BTW thanks for the background :)
