nlinecomputers
I have a client with over 25 computers at one location and needed an audit for insurance reasons. I've found and used the fantastic free tool AIDA32 to produce an audit of the systems. I never used this tool until now. In the DMI ( Desktop Management Interface )sections there are blank entries that imply I can input Asset tags or physical locations(ex: lobby, stockroom, etc.) into the bios. Also some systems have a serial number stamped on the motherboard or on the chasis but the entry is blank or obviously incorrect (EX:1234567890) Some bioses allow some editing on there screens other don't. Does anyone know of a tool that can examine and change DMI information? Thanks,Nathan WilliamsN-Line Computers
Peachy
Check the CD-ROM driver disk that came with the motherboard/computer. The motherboard CD should have a DMI subdirectory with the appropriate DMI editing too. Intel's LAN Desk Manager software is another option.
