AV Protection for Tablets, etc?

I don't think that tablets, Kendall's and Nooks use Windows. What type of protection do they have for Viruses?

Thanks,

Jerry

Malwarebytes is free for Android tablets. I have it installed.

I also got a gift of ESET for a year. When it is up, I will renew my subscription.

I am happy with both of these programs.

corrected my spelling errors!

Many thanks, I have MBAM. I did not know if an AV was necessary with Android. My two AV's for my laptop and desktop are KIS and Bit Defender.

Thanks, again.

Before you buy a device, make sure it allows you to use google play.

You'd click the triangle icon and then look for malwarebytes

https://play.google....timalware&hl=en

Click the install button and then it is on your device. It will update and scan without you doing anything.

It looks like Bitdefender has a free Android version

https://play.google....ender.antivirus

KIS costs $15 for Android

http://www.kaspersky...ndroid-security

They will give you directions on what to do to install it, if they do not go through googleplay. I had to do that for ESET. The directions were very clear because I only had my tablet for about a week and knew nothing, yet I could get it installed following the step by step, which I printed out from a computer so I could read as I clicked things. :shifty:

I decided on a Kendall Fire HDX 7 with 32 gigs of storage. I will play with it a little and see if I made a mistake.

i appreciate all the help. It is always a pleasure to see how you help some of us who are about as dumb as oak stumps. But I won't have lost a lot of money if It does not do what I THINK i need.

Many thanks, again,

Jerry

Do you mean Kindle Fire HDX7?

Yes, my spelling of these strange things is not good, and if it is then my typing does not cooperate. But I know with your expertise you will be able to read my mind.:):)

Thanks,

Hello,

Many e-book readers/tablets run some form of Android OS, and if that's the case, there is probably some kind of anti-malware software in their online app store. If they have Google Play, you can order whichever one you like from there.

Yes, it came with 6 mos of Titanium Internet Security. The Kindel Fire, that is. o:) I will have to check and see if either my KIS or BDIS will work. I have each with another device available.

Google play is not on the Kindle Fire HDX, I checked. When it suggests rooting, I move on.

I can tell you one to avoid: Lookout.

It is for android, the OS on your kindle. I tried it on my tablet and hated it. I removed it in short order.

That is very true; no Google Play but there are still a lot of apps of various varieties from the Amazon Store if your device is capable of running them.
