Stryder
You mentioned croms, I think that is the word. I leave my PC on all the time, do I need to set anything up to make sure all the routines that linux runs automatically gets done?
Bruno
Stryder,Cron-jobs is the word, if your computer is on all the time you don´t have to install any extra software to run it !The cron deamon works at 3 or 4 o´clock at night, updates your databases for the search function, the rpm database and several others, also it compresses log-files ( logrotate ) and other maintenace stuff.Only people who shut down their computer at night might never get those hard needed jobs done. they should install ¨anacron¨ to pick up the forgotten jobs a few minutes after booting their computer. If you want you can add jobs to cron to be run at certain times a day, a week or a month. I will be doing a topic on adding cron-jobs soon in the ¨Starters Tips¨. Bruno
