It's too soon to draw hard conclusions, but so far I've really been enjoying my interactions with the new webhost. Their customer service is superb. And we have a lot more bandwidth, storage and performance than we did before. What's more, I have a lot more control over the site and how it functions. What I'm seeing as I write this (in the wee hours of the morning) is windows and pages snapping open almost as if they were struck by a hammer. Hope that keeps up.

bootneck02, welcome to Scot's!
First download an ISO and then "burn" it to a USB stick, 8GB should be fine.
I always tell new recruits to try Linux live on a computer to see if the hardware likes the particular distro they've decided on.
If you don't know how to do this, yell and I will post step by step instructions.
Next, think about what you do in Windows and post what you absolutely need to do to be comfortable in day to day operations. Someone will post something that is a good fit for your computing style.
I travel with a netbook with linux on it. All that I require on that is to be able to surf safely, get email and watch movies. For my simple travel needs, I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. But if I worked at home in linux, I'd need a lot more functionality.

On February 20, 2010 at about 10:00 AM local Amsterdam time, Bruno Knaapen slipped away…
no more pain, no more sorrow.
For the fourth year now, February 20th is a soulful time for me.
I still really miss Bruno very much.
But I am still relieved that he no longer has to deal with any pain and suffering.
No one should have to suffer the horrendous pain that accompanies pervasive cancer that they can’t fix …
Just wanted to honor our past amazing BATL leader, teacher, friend, Bruno Knaapen.
Bruno, you are still very much missed!

When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set on me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little--but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
miss me--but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take,
and each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
miss me--but let me go.

The tide of life glides swiftly past
And mingles all in one great eddying foam.
O heaven now sleeping!Rouse thee,rise to power;
And thou ,O earth, awake, exert thy might for me
And open wide the door to my last home,
Where calm and quiet rest awaits me in the sky.
Very sorry for your loss. May your staff and shield support and protect you in the coming weeks .
