Weird Nexus 7 Behavior

It's been doing some weird things though - jittery display, partial windows showing up, hard to get rid of apps by dragging them off the screen and slow operation. I don't know much about these units. I did clear out the cache partition but I don't know what else could be causing these problems.Anybody seen anything like this with Android hardware?

You can flash the stock 4.4.4 kitkat by following this: https://developers.g...id/nexus/images

"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress toward more pain." -George Orwell, 1984

I reset my unit on Linux Mint using android-tools to flash to KitKat 4.3 factory settings. I've upgraded to 4.4.2 and then I rooted the device to stop any more automatic system upgrades.
I'm not sure whether I want to try this on my neighbor's unit though as this seems to me like doing a BIOS upgrade and the chances of bricking the tablet look pretty high.

Yes
The problem is the device is too underpowered for Lollipop and should of not came out for that particular device.

Personally I would never suggest an ipad. She may rather like a Nexus 9. The specs are awesome and a humongous upgrade from the Nexus 7 in terms of specs and quality:
64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver @ 2.3GHz processor
2GB Ram
8MP Rear camera with flash
6700 mAh battery
8.9" IPS LCD @ 2048x1536
Runs Android 5.1.1 smoothly with zero lag
https://store.google...product/nexus_9 for $399.00
She can also try it out at Best Buy and purchase from there if she likes.

My daughter loves hers, and my nemesis Lillian has not managed to screw up her iPad - which is a miracle.
