How to restore Windows boot manager?

I installed Mint 17 on my UEFI/Windows 8.1 box and the bootloader failed to recognize it.

I followed the instructions here

bcdedit /set "{bootmgr}" path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi

but that just made it worse. Now it tries to boot from what looks like some sort of network and defaults to Windows after 20-30 seconds when it realizes that there is no bootable network device.

I have since deleted the Linux partitions so the boot manager path doesn't exist. How can I restore it to its original state?

I could repair it myself if I knew the commands to enter. Google has been a lot of help but messing with the boot manager is dangerous.

This computer didn't come with a disk. It has a repair partition but I've never looked into it in detail.

Anyway, I was able to get it back to normal behavior by changing some UEFI settings, which appear to override the boot manager.
