Dear Santa,

My name is Eric. I've been a good boy all year long. I haven't cussed, chased women, or drank to excess. With this in mind, I thought I'd send you my wishlist for Christmas 2013. Here it is...

Small token of my esteem on the way to you. Hope it helps with shipping. Merry Christmas Eric.

BTW nice system spec. The FX-6200 series is a particular sweet spot with these Bulldozer processors.

Should anyone here present know of any reason that Eric should not receive these requests, speak now or forever hold your peace.

h'y up lad has a big fail there. Them prices for the ssd and hdd are extortionate. Does he have shares in them companies ? :whistling:

The rest is purty nice though. :shifty:

Hey Ray, as I said in my email to you earlier, I was just being facetious when I posted that donation link (originally from my blog article), but every last penny counts with me these days. Thank you so much, my friend. I hope Santa brings you all you want this year, too.

Oh, and yeah... that would be a pretty nice system. It would do me for a couple years, anyway. ;)

@ Erik... $51 for a 250Gig WD Caviar Blue 7200 rpm SATA III drive? I don't think that's bad at all. Can't really say about the SSD. That Kingston was the best $/value deal I saw on tigerdirect at the time.

I was quite surprised meself. The USA is usually loads cheaper than here. However a 500 GB WD is $63 here an a 1Tb is only $75. As to ssd's I am spoilt at the moment as I could have had a Samsung Evo 256GB for £109 or a Agility 2 560GB for £99 on Daily Specials I receive. Shame I do not have any loot. :whistling:

Actually, I think the issue with the price is the size of the drive. The smaller drives are more expensive ($ per byte of space) than the larger ones are. I saw a 4TB Seagate for $74.99 earlier today on some email ad I received (Newegg, maybe).

£109 is quite a bit of US$, isn't it? According to this site, it's about 180 bucks US.

I think I could be happy for a long time with 128GB of SSD and 500 GB of HDD. Right now I've got about 80GB on my HDD. And that's with 10 years worth of digital photos. Maybe I'd need more if I were making and storing a lot of HD videos.

I agree. I wouldn't know what to do with a T-Byte of space; nevermind two or three.

Oh, darn...

The mobo/cpu combo and the ssd that I had on my list are no longer available from Tiger Direct. :(

More research will be happening before I make any purchases, anyway. On top of that, it may be a long while before I can actually buy anything, so the market will change by then, I'm sure.
