Dear Experts

I have got laptop Acer Aspire V3-372 with (SSD hard drive)

Looking to install windows 7 64-bit instead of windows 10.

when ever I try to install windows 7 , error message below pops up :

A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" Windows Installation Error

https://ava.co.uk/support/faq/general/a-required-cddvd-drive-device-driver-is-missing-windows-installation-error.aspx

https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-a-required-cddvd-drive-device-driver-is-missing-occurred-in-windows-7-install/

Recommended AHCI/RAID and NVMe Drivers

I am aware of that as when I checked their website I realized it is only for windows 10 no windows 7

But I am still interested to do install windows 7, but I am stuck at the point where external USB pen drive or external USB CD ROM can't pass the error message above

and cause is

In order to resolve this you need to download the appropriate RAID drivers for your computer's motherboard. If you know the manufacturer of your motherboard you can usually get these from their website or a disk that came with your motherboard or PC.[/Quote]

Hello,

Did you try unplugging the Windows 7 installation USB, waiting a few seconds, and then plugging it back into the computer per the instructions on the above web site? Did that work for you?

I had this prob back in the day . The workaround was to search term:- make and mod no of laptop . Make and mod no of optical drive . /drivers . I found and installed with out probs every time .

Hope this will be some help .

I don't have an optical driver on this laptop, I need to try a USB driver that can be used during Windows7 installation to recognize USB port

Best practice, which I nearly always follow, is to go to the manufacturers site for drivers,

http://acer.com/ac/en/SG/content/model/NX.G7BSG.005

I did find this,

http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers/acer/laptops-desktops/aspire-v3-772g/101112

However I have no knowledge of the site and do not know if their downloads are safe.

Good luck with the hunt :Smiley-IPB-400:

It is not your exact model but on another V3 these directions worked.

Press "F2" at bootup.

Change the secure mode from UEFI to legacy.

Disable the secure boot.

Go to boot, press "F6" to take the optical drive to 1st option.

A USB connected optical drive might appear as a FDD.

Hello,

From looking at Acer's support page for your laptop at https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/6398?b=1 I don't see any Windows 7 device drivers being offered, but perhaps if you contact their technical support department they can tell you where the drivers are located, or at least provide you with information about the USB chip manufacturer so you can search for the drivers.

Goretsky;s idea is a good one though Acer may or may not respond quickly. That site I found says this,

http://www.driverscape.com/

Driver Scape contains device drivers manually collected from the official websites of manufacturers. All of our device drivers are organized by vendor name and by device category, so you can easily find drivers you need!

We have a huge collection of drivers, including a massive number of Printer Drivers, Scanner Drivers, Video Drivers and Sound Drivers. We also offer Motherboard Drivers, Monitor Drivers, USB Drivers, Bluetooth Drivers, Mobile phone Drivers, Keyboard Drivers, Mouse Drivers and much more. Most of our drivers are WHQL certificated and manually inspected by our team. If you cannot find the driver you need, please contact us and we'll help you.

I would bet that they would respond to a query quicker than Acer. :fish:

Unfortunate they were not able to solve the issue and it was a paid service not free

Download couple of drivers that I thought might be related to USB drivers like below

Intel®_USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver_2.5.3.34

Intel_RST_RAID_driver_x64_14.5.0.1081

but they couldn't solve the issue

Another site I found was reasonably good for drivers :-> driverguide.com< -: A lot of the drivers on there are built by ?hackers? Eitherhow there is a lot to choose from and you might just be lucky there . On the off-chance the environment there has changed .Sand box first and double check ..
